Biography

Stephanie Krent is a staff attorney at the Knight Amendment Institute and a lecturer in law at Columbia Law School. Her work focuses on the freedom of speech, surveillance issues affecting marginalized groups, and the use of commercial spyware and surveillance technologies in correctional facilities and at borders. Krent graduated from Barnard College and received her law degree from Yale Law School, where she was awarded the Harlan Fiske Stone Prize and the Potter Stewart Prize for her participation in Moot Court. She also served as comments editor for the Yale Law Journal. Before joining the Knight Amendment Institute, she clerked for Judge Edgardo Ramos in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and Judge Julio M. Fuentes in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Krent has prior experience working as an associate at Jenner & Block.
