Professor Dr. Stephanie Osbakken

Biography

Stephanie Osbakken is an Associate Professor in the Department of Liberal Arts at the University of Texas at Austin. Her scholarly interests are diverse, focusing particularly on understanding the mechanisms through which social inequities perpetuate health disparities. She has conducted extensive research into how status barriers hinder interdisciplinary collaborations in the health sciences. In addition to her research, teaching is a vocation for her, and she aims to foster a love of learning in her students. Her courses include 'Introduction to Health & Society', 'Cancerland', and 'Seminar on Health & Society'. Osbakken's commitment to her students goes beyond academics; she encourages them to take risks and make meaningful choices to cultivate fulfilling lives.
