Biography

Stephanie Ruest is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine at Brown University, affiliated with Hasbro Children's Hospital. She earned her MD from the University of Massachusetts Medical School, followed by a Pediatrics residency and Chief Resident year at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Ruest completed her Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at Brown University/Hasbro Children's Hospital and also obtained a Master of Public Health from Brown. Her role includes overseeing the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Trauma Liaison and the Rhode Island Hospital Injury Prevention Center. She leads the Injury Prevention Research Track and directs the Rhode Island Injury Prevention Research Fellowship. Her research focuses on childhood injuries, child abuse, unintentional injuries, and social determinants of health, evidenced by numerous peer-reviewed publications addressing topics such as pediatric injury epidemiology, gun violence, and adolescent substance use trauma. Landmark honors include the Division Pediatric Emergency Medicine Director’s Clinical Excellence Award and the Department of Emergency Medicine Outstanding Young Investigator Research Award. Dr. Ruest actively mentors medical students and fellows in her fields of expertise.
