Biography

Stephanie Russo is an Associate Professor in the School of Humanities at Macquarie University, specializing in historical fiction, including film, television, and theater, particularly musical theater and adaptations. Her research interests revolve around the use of deliberate anachronisms in historical representation and women's writing in the long eighteenth century. She has published extensively on female novelists from this period, including works on Jane Austen, Mary Robinson, and Mary Wollstonecraft. Her upcoming monograph, 'Anachronistic Turn: Historical Fiction, Drama, Television and Film', is set for release by Routledge. She has also guest-edited journal issues focusing on anachronistic historical fiction and supervises MRes and PhD projects on related topics. Stephanie's editorial work includes her role as editor for the Journal of Historical Fictions and as an editor for the Global Historical Fictions series published by Brill.
