Professor Dr. Stephen Bremner

Biography

Associate Professor Stephen Bremner is affiliated with the University of New South Wales (UNSW), where he specializes in the field of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering. His research focuses on third generation photovoltaics, including hot carrier solar cells and nanostructures, as well as the development of novel photovoltaic devices. He is involved in significant research initiatives concerning III-V compound semiconductor growth, particularly through molecular beam epitaxy (MBE), and investigates newly emerging materials such as infrared materials. Bremner's work also encompasses the characterization of low bandgap materials and the development of silicon sub-cells within multi-junction solar cells. His commitment to advancing energy efficiency is reflected in his teaching areas, which include courses on energy efficiency and solar cells. He actively supervises PhD opportunities relevant to MBE growth and photovoltaic devices, aiming to innovate within the field of semiconductor technology.
