Biography

Stephen Collis is an accomplished author with fifteen books to his name, encompassing both poetry and prose. He is known for works such as 'Commons' (2008) and 'Material' (2010), the latter of which won the BC Book Prize. His 2018 book 'Islands: Phyllis Webb Pursuit Unwritten' continues to explore the themes of identity and place. Additionally, his poetry collection 'History Theories Rain' was a finalist for the Governor General’s Award in 2019, and he received the Latner Poetry Prize from the Writers’ Trust of Canada. His upcoming projects include a volume trilogy titled 'Middle' set for publication in October 2024 and an experimental memoir 'Knock House' to be released by Pamenar Press in 2025. He resides on Burnaby Mountain, situated within the unceded Coast Salish Territory, where he teaches poetry at Simon Fraser University.
