Biography

Since 2021, Stephen Cox has been a Royal Society University Research Fellow in the Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry at the University of Cambridge. His work focuses on the behavior of liquids at interfaces, employing molecular simulations and statistical mechanics to reveal the microscopic details of interfacial systems. His recent research has primarily concentrated on enhancing simulation methodologies to provide insights into the adsorption of ions at charged interfaces, which is crucial for addressing complex phenomena such as ice nucleation. Stephen has a profound interest in understanding the dielectric response of water and its implications for aqueous ion solvation. Previously, from 2017 to 2021, he was a Royal Commission Exhibition 1851 Research Fellow, and he has also served as a college lecturer and undergraduate tutor at Churchill College, University of Cambridge. His academic journey includes a postdoctoral fellowship at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and a PhD from University College London.
