Biography

Stephen Dobbs awarded a Ph.D. in 2000 and has been involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students at Murdoch University, Adelaide University, and the University of Western Australia since the early 1990s. He currently serves as the Offshore Coordinator at the School of Social Sciences, where he teaches upper-level units in Asian Studies, including ASIA1001 Asian Societies and Cultures, ASIA1002 Asia Colonial Modern, and ASIA2001 Culture Society State Asia. Dobbs has a strong research interest in the social and political history of Southeast Asia, particularly focusing on Singapore and Malaysia, and has published extensively on the early development of the Port of Singapore. His research also explores environmental issues and development in the region, including the Mekong River and Timor-Leste. Additionally, he has received multiple Excellence in Teaching Award nominations for his contributions to education in Asian Studies.
