Dr. Stephen Estime

Biography

Stephen Estime is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesia and Critical Care at the University of Chicago. He completed his anesthesiology residency at the University of Chicago, followed by a critical care fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. His clinical interests include trauma anesthesia, and he currently practices as an anesthesiologist in the operating room and as a critical care physician in the trauma-surgical intensive care unit. Dr. Estime's academic work focuses on quality improvement and patient safety, particularly in emergency airway management for critically ill patients, with a strong emphasis on health equity and reducing healthcare disparities. He serves as the Director of Diversity and Inclusion for the Graduate Medical Education office and leads diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in the Department of Anesthesia.
