Stephen Fai is a full professor at the Azrieli School of Architecture & Urbanism at Carleton University. He holds a professional undergraduate degree in architecture from Carleton University (1990) and both a Master of Arts and a PhD in Religious Studies from the University of Ottawa (1996, 2006). He has served in various administrative roles including co-chair of the PhD in MAS programs from 2013 to 2025, acting director of the School of Architecture from 2002 to 2004, director from 2004 to 2005, and associate director of graduate programs from 2006 to 2010. Fai is cross-appointed to the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Institute of Comparative Studies in Literature, Art and Culture. His research interests include the documentation and dissemination of ethno-cultural methods of construction, biomedical visualization, building information modeling, and the conservation of heritage through digital twins, alongside the theories of architectural representation.
