Biography

Stephen Foley is an Associate Professor in the College of Arts and Science at the University of Saskatchewan. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Queen's University and a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Ottawa. His postdoctoral studies were completed at the University of Chicago under the supervision of Richard Jordan. His research interests primarily focus on synthetic inorganic and organometallic chemistry, encompassing the development of new processes for the selective extraction and recovery of precious metals from secondary sources and waste streams. He investigates novel palladacycles and their applications in C-C and C-heteroatom coupling reactions, as well as the reactivity of low-coordinate metal complexes in catalytic polymerization. Foley is dedicated to fostering graduate studies and employs innovative tools to guide prospective students in their academic journeys.
