Dr. Stephen Heathorn

Biography

Stephen Heathorn is a cultural historian with a particular interest in how the past is represented and utilized by individuals and societies. His main focus is on Britain's imperial reach during the 18th Century. Heathorn completed his PhD dissertation at the University of Toronto in 1996, which concentrated on late-19th Century working-class English schoolchildren and their learning experiences. His academic career includes appointments as an Associate Professor of History at McMaster University from 2001 to 2009 and as an Assistant Professor of History at Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis from 1997 to 2001.
