Dr. Stephen Hydon

Biography

Stephen Hydon is a teaching professor at the University of Southern California, serving as the director of the Practicum Education Program in Social Work. His academic interests center around secondary traumatic stress and the practice of social work in educational settings, specifically in relation to child welfare. Hydon has significantly contributed to the co-development of an online educator curriculum focused on secondary traumatic stress. He holds an EdD from the University of Southern California obtained in 2016, a Master of Social Work from the University of Connecticut acquired in 1995, and a Bachelor’s degree from 1991. Hydon’s expertise spans various domains within social work and education, emphasizing mental health care, wellness, and trauma-responsive practices in schools. He has experience in health care services related to education and training, contributing to writing and editing in scholarly publications.
