Dr. Stephen Krupin

Biography

Stephen Krupin served as a top communications advisor to the President of the United States, U.S. Secretary of State, and U.S. Senate Majority Leader. He has written for and coached heads of iconic brands, philanthropies, Nobel laureates, Hall of Famers, and everyday people advocating for important causes. Stephen served as a senior speechwriter for President Barack Obama and was the director of speechwriting for Obama’s re-election campaign. He also worked as the chief speechwriter for Secretary John Kerry and Senator Harry Reid. Throughout his career, he has acted as an on-record spokesman and worked in press writing operations during the 2008 Obama campaign and the Democratic National Conventions. In these roles, Stephen helped leaders frame their communications across various platforms, including high-profile appearances on “60 Minutes” and the TED Talk stage. He launched a national public affairs and political media firm, SKDK, where he partners with C-suite executives and elected officials to develop compelling stories and messages through keynote speeches, media training, crisis communications, and advertising. He has extensive ghostwriting experience, and his bylined commentary has appeared in outlets such as The Washington Post, New York Magazine, and Sports Illustrated. Stephen has also participated in workshops and conferences around the globe. As an adjunct lecturer at Harvard Kennedy School, he teaches graduate-level speechwriting courses.
