Dr. Stephen Lindsay

Biography

Stephen Lindsay is a cognitive psychologist whose research focuses on human memory. He specializes in areas such as false memory, eyewitness memory, and the subjective experiences associated with recollecting, knowing, believing, and doubting. Lindsay's work examines the determinants of subjective experience in remembering and the inferential processes that people use to determine the origins of their mental events and memories. His research has important applications in understanding everyday memory phenomena, particularly in the context of eyewitness evidence. As the Editor-in-Chief of Psychological Science from 2015 to 2019, Lindsay contributed to the flagship journal of the Association for Psychological Science, overseeing editorial processes and advocating for the sharing of data and materials in psychological research. He enjoys collaborating with exceptional psychologists and finds great pleasure in mentoring both undergraduate and graduate students in his field.
