Biography

Stephen Karrer O'Leary was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on June 19, 1965. He received his Bachelor of Applied Science, Master of Science, and Doctorate degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto in 1988, 1990, and 1995, respectively. He worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Toronto from fall 1995 to spring 1996 and at Hong Kong Baptist University in spring 1996. He was a visiting scientist at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute from 1997 to fall 1998. In fall 1998, he became an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Regina. In 2006, he transitioned to the University of Windsor as an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, before moving to The University of British Columbia Okanagan as an Associate Professor in 2008. Currently, he holds the position of Professor at UBC Okanagan. O'Leary is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and a registered Professional Engineer in Saskatchewan and British Columbia.
