Biography

Stephen Parker joined the University of Glasgow in February 2016 as part of the Endeavour Research Fellowship from the Australian Government. In August 2016, he took on the role of Research Fellow focusing on Education Policy and Social Justice. He became a Lecturer in Education in January 2022. Parker has served as Managing Editor for the journal Critical Studies in Education since 2012 and is the Deputy Leader of the Education Leadership and Policy Research Teaching Group, as well as the School of Education's Ethics Officer. He contributes to the management of research outputs and publications within the school. His research interests encompass higher education policy, social justice in education, critical social theory, and philosophy of research methods. He has a strong publication record, including edited volumes such as 'Practice Methodologies in Education Research' (Routledge, 2020) and 'Policy and Inequality in Education' (Springer, 2017). Prior to his position at Glasgow, Parker was a research fellow at the Centre for Research in Educational Futures and Innovation at Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia. He has also worked at Australia's National Centre for Student Equity in Higher Education, hosted by the University of South Australia. He teaches various courses related to equity, social justice, and education policy in the MSc Education program.
