Professor Pitti received his PhD from Stanford University in 1998 and has made significant contributions to the fields of History, American Studies, and Ethnicity, Race, and Migration. He is the author of the book 'Devil in Silicon Valley: Race, Mexican Americans, and Northern California' published in 2003, and he has written numerous articles on Chicano history and historiography. Currently, he is working on book projects including 'World César Chávez' published by Yale University Press and 'Leaving California: Race and the Golden State', which is in progress. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Professor Pitti serves as the Director of Undergraduate Studies for Yale’s American Studies Program and directs the Latina/o History Project, which investigates the ethnic Mexican, Puerto Rican, Dominican, Cuban, and broader Latino histories in the United States, highlighting the links between diversity, culture, and politics.
