Biography

Stephen Price joined the faculty at the University of Washington as the inaugural Paul B. Fritts Faculty Fellow Artist-in-Residence in Organ Studies in September 2023. He teaches courses in Organ Performance, Church Music, and Keyboard Harmony, spearheading revitalization initiatives for the organ program. Price is recognized for organizing significant events including the Annual Walker-Ames Halloween Organ Concert and masterclasses with renowned guest artists. His formative years included serving as an Organ Scholar at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church and St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral in Buffalo, New York. He completed his undergraduate studies at Western Connecticut State University, receiving a Fulbright Scholarship to study in France. He later earned his Master and Doctor of Music degrees from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. His professional experience includes roles such as Associate Director and Music Organist at a United Methodist Church and teaching at Ball State University. Price has performed in various venues across the U.S. and contributed to the field through presentations and recordings, including his debut album, "Paris Impact Organ Suites." He is associated with several professional organizations, including the American Guild of Organists.
