Biography

Stephen Quick is an Adjunct Instructor in Carnegie Mellon University's Master of Science in Architecture–Engineering–Construction Management program. He has taught in both undergraduate and graduate programs since 2010 and was involved in the Master of Urban Design program. A principal architect and urban designer in Pittsburgh, he has led his own firms and has been actively engaged in community leadership and the architectural profession at various levels. His work has garnered multiple awards in urban design, architecture, and green building design. Quick received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Architecture in Urban Design from Cornell University. He has served as a visiting studio critic and has given talks at universities and conferences in China and Rome. His research interests include urban design, transportation, and smart infrastructure, with recent work addressing urban light pollution and developing a summer course on this topic for CMU's undergraduate programs.
