Dr. Stephen Sammut

Biography

Stephen Sammut is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he has taught for nearly 30 years. He has developed eight courses and educated over 11,000 students. His research areas are closely aligned with venture activity, focusing on health care, biotechnology, capacity building in emerging markets, and private equity's role in economic development and global health. He has served as visiting faculty at the Indian School of Business and Strathmore University Business School, where he contributed to launching health care management MBA programs. In addition to his academic role, he chairs the Industry Advisory Board at Alta Semper Capital, a private equity impact fund concentrating on health care investments in Africa. His career includes being a venture partner at Burrill & Company and overseeing private equity and venture capital activities at Teleflex Incorporated.
