Biography

Stephen Sapp is an Associate Professor of Finance at Ivey Business School. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree with Distinction in Mathematics and Chemistry from Mount Allison University, a Master's degree in Applied Statistics from the University of Toronto, and a Ph.D. in Finance from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. Before pursuing his doctoral studies, he worked as a consultant at the German Cancer Research Centre and the Centre for European Economic Research. At Ivey, Professor Sapp has served as an adjunct lecturer in Finance and has taught Investments. His research interests focus on International Finance, particularly in how globalization impacts financial markets and the behavior of investors and firms operating within diverse financial environments. He analyzes how changing economic conditions affect financial decisions within global equity and foreign exchange markets and investigates the impact of individual traders on overall market behavior. His work also extends to studying the differences in regulatory and corporate governance frameworks across countries and their influences on firms' strategic decision-making processes, including aspects like executive compensation. Outside of academia, Professor Sapp enjoys outdoor activities such as golf, sailing, tennis, biking, and skiing.
