Biography

Stephen joined the University of Southampton in September 2023 and currently works as a Teaching Fellow in the Education School. He serves as the Associate Programme Lead for the BSc Education & Psychology programme and teaches a range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules. He supervises students completing dissertations for the MSc Education programme and has developed the philosophy of education module for third-year undergraduates. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Stephen is engaged in a variety of research activities. He previously served as the Principal Investigator for the Sustainable Careers Project at the University of Edinburgh. Currently, he is collaborating with colleagues at the Southampton Education School on a project examining the role of generative AI tools in enhancing research-informed teaching practices. His personal research interests include the artistry of teaching, conceptions of teaching, and the implications of technological advances in education, particularly in rapidly changing contexts. Stephen has taught at higher education institutions for the past five years and has attained Fellow status with Advance HE.
