Stephen Spector is a senior lecturer in accounting with extensive experience in the field. He is a Fellow of the Certified General Accountants Association of Canada and has worked for CGA Canada for 20 years, returning to academia in 2002 to follow his passion for teaching. Spector started a PhD program in 1981 but did not complete it. Throughout his career at SFU's Beedie School of Business, he has remained deeply involved with the CGA association, serving as a Board Governor from 1998 to 2011 and holding the position of president in 2009. He chaired the CGA BC Ethics Committee from 1999 to 2007 and again in 2011. Over the years, he has received various accolades including the Chair's Award for Education from CGA-BC in 2008 and the TD Canada Trust Distinguished Teaching Award. Spector was also named a University Teaching Fellow from 2010 to 2013. He became the Academic Director of the Business Minor in January 2014 and later the Business Major. In addition to his professional responsibilities, he is an avid music fan and collector of classical music and movie scores.
