Dr. Stephen Strobbe

Biography

Stephen Strobbe is a Clinical Professor Emeritus in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing at the University of Michigan School of Nursing. He specialized in psychiatric addictions and has a professional background that includes clinical care, research, administration, and teaching. Over his career, he has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and contributed to numerous position statements, book chapters, and resources in the area of substance use and addictions nursing. Strobbe has been a co-founder and served as the Clinical Director of the University of Michigan Addiction Treatment Services from 2006 to 2010. He has given invited talks across the globe including the Federated States of Micronesia, Europe, South America, Southeast Asia, and Iceland. His contributions to the field have been recognized through various awards, including the 25th Annual Golden Apple Award for teaching at the University of Michigan, and he has served as President Emeritus of the International Nurses Society on Addictions between 2016 and 2018. Strobbe is also a Fellow of the International Academy of Addictions Nursing and the American Academy of Nursing.
