Biography

Stephen Theriault is a homotopy theorist and a Professor of Pure Mathematics at the University of Southampton since 2015. His research focuses on homotopy theory, specifically homotopy types of spheres and Moore spaces, as well as applied homotopy theory in the study of properties of objects found in mathematics, such as Lie groups, gauge groups, manifolds, and polyhedral products. He has a keen interest in the classification of homotopy types of gauge groups and has been active in research related to loop space decompositions and homotopy theory of manifolds. Theriault has been awarded grants for his research from the London Mathematical Society and the SASAKAWA Foundation. He has also contributed to various projects in the field of mathematics.
