Dr. Stephen Weber

Biography

Stephen G. Weber is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Chicago, with a focus on Infectious Diseases and Global Health. He contributes significantly to physician quality practice, population health, and health care coordination innovations. Dr. Weber has served in leadership roles, overseeing programs that advance digital health within the health system. He received his MD from New York University School of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Chicago, where he also served as Chief Medical Resident. Following his residency, he pursued a subspecialty fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston and holds a Master’s Degree in Epidemiology from Harvard School of Public Health. His research centers on preventing and managing infections caused by multi-drug resistant organisms in hospitalized patients and examining public policy regulations related to infection control. He has chaired the Public Policy Government Affairs Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America. Dr. Weber is recognized for his outstanding teaching and has won multiple awards for clinical service. He is often featured in Chicago Magazine’s list of Top Doctors and has been acknowledged as a leading expert in Patient Safety.
