Dr. Stephen Weber

Biography

Stephen Weber is a Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Chicago with a focus on Infectious Diseases and Global Health. He has been instrumental in overseeing multiple programs aimed at enhancing physician quality practices, population health, and informatics within the healthcare system. He plays a key role in the digital health programming at UChicago Medicine. In addition to his academic responsibilities, he continues to see patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Dr. Weber earned his MD from New York University School of Medicine and trained in Internal Medicine at the University of Chicago, where he served as Chief Medical Resident. He completed a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston and also holds a Master's Degree in Epidemiology from Harvard School of Public Health. His original research is centered on the prevention and management of infections caused by multi-drug resistant organisms in hospitalized patients. Dr. Weber has contributed to public policy regulations regarding infection control and has significantly influenced national and regional policies for reporting healthcare-associated infections. He has been recognized for his exceptional teaching and has received multiple awards, including the Department of Medicine's Outstanding Clinical Service Award. Stephen Weber is a leading expert in Patient Safety and has been named one of Chicago’s Top Doctors on several occasions.
