Biography

Stephen Wizner is the William O. Douglas Clinical Professor Emeritus at Yale Law School, where he has been a faculty member since 1970. He received his A.B. from Dartmouth College in 1959 and his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School in 1963. Before joining Yale Law School, Professor Wizner served as a Trial Attorney in the Criminal Division of the United States Department of Justice from 1963 to 1966 and worked as a legal services lawyer in New York City. At Yale, he has played a significant role in clinical education, supervising students and teaching courses in Trial Practice, Evidence, and Ethics. Professor Wizner has received numerous awards for his contributions to legal education, including the William Pincus Award from the Association of American Law Schools and the Richard S. Jacobson Trial Advocacy Teaching Award from the Roscoe Pound American Trial Lawyers Foundation. He is also actively involved in various professional organizations and community activities, including serving as a member of the Criminal Justice Act Advisory Committee for the United States Court of Appeals.
