Steve Goldschmid is a board-certified gastroenterologist who has been practicing since September 2000. He spent years at Emory University School of Medicine where he served as the Director of Clinical Services. Goldschmid received his medical degree from Wayne State University and completed his gastroenterology residency at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. In 2000, he was recruited to establish a state-of-the-art gastroenterology service and endoscopy lab at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center. In 2006, he became the Chairman of Medicine and served as the Dean of the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson from 2009 to 2014, including a year as interim dean prior to his deanship. He is a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American College of Physicians, and a member of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American Gastroenterological Association. His special interests include inflammatory bowel disease, endoscopic therapy, and gastrointestinal disorders. After a brief retirement, he returned in late 2021 as Dean of the Global Medical Degree Program at the University of Arizona College of Health Sciences, while continuing his role as Adjunct Professor at the University of Western Australia Medical School, Discipline of Medical Education.
