Biography

Steve Martino specializes in the treatment of addictive disorders in patients diagnosed with co-occurring psychiatric problems and chronic pain. Serving as the Chief of Psychology at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System, Martino is also a Co-Project Director at the Interpersonal Violence Center Innovation, Research, Evaluation (IPV-CIRE). His current research revolves around implementation strategies for motivational interviewing-based interventions within the Veterans Healthcare Administration system. Throughout his career, he has engaged in numerous studies aimed at adapting and empirically examining the effects of motivational interviewing in dual diagnosis populations, particularly those with severe mental illness and addictions.
