Biography

Steve Steffensen is a board-certified neurologist with additional subspecialty certification in behavioral neurology and neuropsychiatry. He has over 20 years of leadership experience as an active-duty Navy officer in medicine and health innovation. As a clinical associate professor at Dell Medical School, he serves in the Departments of Neurology and Population Health Medical Education, where he specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and neurocognitive disorders. He directs the neurology clerkship for medical students and has played a central role in medical education as co-director of the medical neuroscience course for first-year students. Steffensen has been instrumental in establishing neurology residency programs at Dell Med, enhancing graduate medical education opportunities in Austin. Prior to joining Dell Med, he served as chief innovation officer for the Military Health System, where he helped lead national initiatives in electronic health records and digital health technologies.
