Biography

Steven Artandi is the Laurie Kraus Lacob Director of the Stanford Cancer Institute and a Professor of Biochemistry and Medicine - Hematology. He serves as the inaugural Senior Associate Dean for Cancer Programs at the Stanford School of Medicine and is also the Chief Cancer Officer for Stanford Health Care. Dr. Artandi completed his undergraduate studies at Princeton University and earned his MD and PhD degrees from Columbia University. He completed his training in Internal Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and in Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute before joining the Stanford faculty in 2000. His research focuses on the role of telomerase in cancer, aging, and stem cell function, contributing significant insights into the origins of cancer. He is a member of the American Association for Advancement of Science and has been elected to the American Society for Clinical Investigation and the Association of American Physicians. He serves on several editorial boards and actively participates in academic and professional organizations.
