Dr. Steven Bank

Biography

Steven Bank is the Paul Hastings Professor of Business Law at UCLA School of Law, where he has been a faculty member since 2002. He teaches courses on Federal Income Taxation and Business Associations, along with a variety of related subjects. Bank has served as Vice Dean of UCLA School of Law from 2007 to 2013 and was also the Faculty Director of the Lowell Milken Institute for Business Law and Policy. His research primarily explores taxation of business entities through a legal and business history lens. He has authored and co-authored numerous articles and chapters in the fields of business taxation, tax policy, and tax history. His published works include significant titles such as 'Anglo-American Corporate Taxation' and 'Sword and Shield: Transformation of Corporate Income Tax, 1861-Present'. Bank's contributions to taxation scholarship have earned him recognition, including the John Minor Wisdom Award for Academic Excellence in Legal Scholarship. In addition to his academic roles, he has served as a commentator on soccer law issues, integrating his expertise in business tax into legal aspects of sports law. Before joining UCLA, he was an associate professor at Florida State University College of Law and has extensive legal practice experience, including clerking for the Honorable Jesse Eschbach of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. His scholarly contributions extend to various prestigious legal journals.
