Dr. Steven Barczi

Biography

Steven Barczi is a distinguished faculty member and Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He has played vital roles in various capacities, including attending physician at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans' Hospital and director at the Madison VA Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center. Dr. Barczi is recognized nationally for his contributions to geriatrics education and has developed innovative, competency-based curricula across the continuum of graduate medical education. He has mentored numerous early-career geriatricians and has authored interprofessional education products and approaches. His work includes significant contributions to the development of telemedicine networks and models of care aimed at improving geriatric patient outcomes. Additionally, he is involved in leadership roles in organizations such as the Association of Specialty Professors and has served on the Board of Directors for the American Geriatrics Society. His research interests include telemedicine, education innovation, and sleep medicine, highlighting his commitment to advancing geriatric care and education.
