Biography

Dr. Beyea’s work focuses on the development and application of clinical and commercial translation of novel diagnostic imaging technologies. His research lab encompasses the development, acquisition, and reconstruction strategies for improved MRI, utilizing AI and deep learning methods. Specific areas of interest include the development of clinical validation sequences and protocols utilizing a 0.5-T head-only MRI with 100 mT/s and 400 T/m/s gradients, as well as employing AI to determine the real-time diagnostic quality of MR images. He is the scientific lead of the BIOTIC research group, collaborating with a team of researchers to access a range of diagnostic imaging technologies that are embedded directly in the clinic. Dr. Beyea aims to actively collaborate with clinical and commercial partners to validate and commercialize these technologies, which include state-of-the-art 1.5-T and 3-T MRIs. He is particularly interested in supervising students on interdisciplinary research projects in the areas of low-field MRI and the applications of artificial intelligence in diagnostic imaging.
