Dr. Edland’s primary research interest is in epidemiology, specifically focusing on the treatment and prevention of chronic diseases. Prior to his tenure at UC San Diego, he provided statistical support for numerous nationally recognized epidemiologic investigations into Alzheimer’s disease. Currently, he serves as the Principal Investigator for an NIA grant focusing on optimizing outcome measures for clinical trials in preclinical Alzheimer's disease, exploring statistical methods for measuring disease progression and drug treatment effects. Dr. Edland is also involved with Data Safety Monitoring Boards and NIH study sections, contributing to the advancement of Alzheimer's disease research.
