Professor Steven L. Goldstein is the Interim Director of the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory at Columbia Climate School and holds the title of Higgins Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. His accolades include the Lenfest Distinguished Faculty Award from Columbia and several teaching excellence awards. Before joining Columbia in 1996, he was a Staff Scientist at the Max-Planck-Institut für Chemie in Mainz, Germany, specializing in geochemistry. Professor Goldstein earned his Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1986, an M.A. from Harvard University in 1978, and a B.A. from Columbia College in 1976.
