Biography

Steven Leach is a senior lecturer and research scientist focused on the gastrointestinal microbiome, aiming to promote gastrointestinal health and mitigate the burden of inflammatory diseases in infants and children. He collaborates with physicians and healthcare professionals at Sydney Children’s Hospital and the Royal Hospital for Women to explore ways to improve health outcomes for infants and children suffering from gastrointestinal-related inflammatory diseases including inflammatory bowel disease, eczema, allergies, necrotizing enterocolitis, and irritable bowel syndrome. In his role at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Steven leads laboratory research and supports a wide range of research projects and clinical trials targeted at childhood diseases.
