Dr. Steven Mock

Biography

Steven E. Mock is an Associate Professor cross-appointed at the School of Public Health Sciences at the University of Waterloo. His research interests encompass developmental psychology, particularly focusing on aging, retirement, coping mechanisms for stigmatization, and the development of sexual minority adults. He is affiliated with the RBC Retirement Research Centre, which supports his research on retirement planning and the implications for diverse family structures. Additionally, Mock has been a recipient of the Early Researcher Award from the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation, which fosters innovative research in retirement planning and adult development. As an educator, he teaches various courses, including Advanced Seminar in Socio-Cultural and Behavioral Dimensions of Leisure, Leisure Well-being, and Quantitative Research Data Analysis and Interpretation. His work has been published in leading journals, highlighting the impact of leisure on well-being and the dynamics of sexual orientation identity over extended periods. Mock is dedicated to mentoring graduate students whose research aligns with his interests in adult development and psychological approaches to leisure research.
