Biography

Steven Naoum completed his general dental training (BDSc) at the University of Western Australia in 2001. In 2007, he moved to Perth from Sydney to complete a Graduate Diploma in Divinity at the Australian College of Theology. Between 2008 and 2014, Dr. Naoum held a full-time academic position at the University of Sydney in the Faculty of Dentistry, specifically within the Department of Restorative Dentistry. During this time, he also completed his PhD, which focused on the benefits and effectiveness of fluoride-releasing resin composites. Additionally, he served as the Oral Health Lead at the Poche Centre for Indigenous Health. In 2014, Dr. Naoum returned to Perth to undergo specialist training in Orthodontics at the University of Western Australia, completing his Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics in 2016. He accepted a position as a Senior Lecturer in Orthodontics at the University of Western Australia Dental School in 2018. Dr. Naoum is a registered Specialist Orthodontist with certification from the Australasian Orthodontic Board, and he also practices clinically at the Oral Health Centre in Western Australia as well as in private practice. He is an active member of the Australian Society of Orthodontists and currently serves as a state councillor in the Society’s National committee for the Foundation Research Education.
