Biography

Dr. Steven Pearce is a Lecturer in the School of Computing Science at Simon Fraser University. He has a strong academic background, having earned his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in 1995, as well as both an M.Sc. and a B.Sc. (Honors) from the University of British Columbia in 1984 and 1981, respectively. His research interests encompass various complex topics within mathematics and computational science, focusing on spectral methods, computational magnetohydrodynamics, and their applications to astrophysical dynamo theory. He also explores computational fluid dynamics and its relevance to cratering mechanics, oceanic impacts, megatsunamis, and mathematical inverse theory in high energy astrophysics. His approach often employs graph theoretical techniques and cellular automata. In addition to research, Steven is dedicated to teaching, with interests in mathematics, physics, and sociotechnology.
