Dr. Steven Phelps

Biography

Steven M. Phelps is a Professor in the Department of Integrative Biology at the University of Texas at Austin. His research integrates behavioral ecology with molecular biology and employs a variety of approaches, including computational models and molecular analyses of gene expression. Phelps focuses on the nature and consequences of within- and between-species variation in neuronal gene expression and behavior, often using exotic rodent models. His work is anchored in both laboratory and field studies of animal behavior, exploring areas such as gene regulation, social cognition, epigenetics, transcription, population genetics, and neural network models.
