Biography

Steven Rabinowitz is a lecturer at Columbia Law School with over 30 years of experience in law and litigation. He has worked with Pryor Cashman LLP and established his own firm, Steven M Rabinowitz PLLC, where he has served as lead counsel in trials, arbitrations, and administrative hearings covering a wide array of civil, criminal, and family law matters. Additionally, he has provided training and supervision for associates focusing on oral advocacy and trial practice. Rabinowitz has been extensively involved in mediation for both business and personal disputes. His representation of the Uniformed Fire Officers Association has been notable, providing legal representation to members of the Fire Department of New York in investigative and disciplinary matters. He also represented the Doctors Council, a union for public healthcare professionals in New York City. His prior roles include serving as vice president and general counsel for Mendik Realty Company and work as an assistant district attorney at the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, where he handled numerous cases and trials. Rabinowitz earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School in 1983, receiving the Jane Marks Murphy Prize for outstanding advocacy and commitment to public service, and obtained a bachelor's degree in psychology from Columbia College in 1979.
