Steven M. Shavell is the Samuel R. Rosenthal Professor at Harvard Law School and the Director of the John M. Olin Center for Law, Economics and Business. He has held significant positions including the founder and director of the School’s John M. Olin Center for Law, Economics, and Business, and past director of the Law Economics Program at the National Bureau of Economic Research. He is co-founder and past president of the American Law and Economics Association. Additionally, he is a Guggenheim Fellow, a Fellow of the Econometric Society, a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a recipient of the Ronald H. Coase Medal for his research in law and economics. He has authored numerous articles and books, including the treatise "Foundations of Economic Analysis of Law," published by Harvard University Press in 2004.
