Dr. Steven Simon

Biography

Steven R. Simon, M.D., M.P.H. is a Professor in Residence and Associate Dean for Veterans Affairs at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles. He has held significant leadership roles, including Chief of Staff at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System and Associate Chief of Staff for Geriatrics Extended Care at the VA Boston Healthcare System. Steven has contributed to the academic community as an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard University and is widely recognized as a health services researcher and medical educator. His research primarily focuses on interventions that enhance the quality and safety of healthcare, with a particular emphasis on utilizing educational programs and healthcare information technology to improve the delivery and receipt of care for common medical conditions. Steven has served as the principal investigator on numerous investigator-initiated research grants supported by the VA Health Services Research Development Service Agency and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. His scholarly output includes over 140 publications in prestigious journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine, and Health Affairs, underscoring his active engagement in advancing the field of medicine.
