Biography

Steve graduated from the Welsh School of Pharmacy in 1991 and has extensive experience in pharmacy practice. In 2003, he became a Consultant Pharmacist in Medicine & Medication Safety at the University Hospital South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust, where he leads the Medication Safety arm of the Trust’s Patient Safety Programme. He is responsible for compliance with medication safety directives from the National Patient Safety Agency, NHS Litigation Authority, and Care Quality Commission. Steve has a strong focus on improving patient safety and works as a non-medical prescriber in an acute medical unit as well as in diabetes outpatients. His career is dedicated to raising the profile of pharmacy and ensuring that pharmacists are recognized as medication experts within the NHS, thereby improving patient care. Steve's research interests include the attitudes of hospital pharmacists towards reporting medication errors, reflecting his commitment to enhancing medication safety within healthcare systems.
