Biography

Steven Wu is an Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University, in the Software Societal Systems Department of the Societal Computing program. He has affiliations with the Machine Learning Department and the Human-Computer Interaction Institute. Steven received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was co-advised by Michael Kearns and Aaron Roth. His doctoral dissertation earned the Morris Dorothy Rubinoff Award from Penn. He has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Amazon Research Award, Google Faculty Research Award, J.P. Morgan Faculty Award, Facebook Research Award, and the Mozilla Research Grant. Additionally, prior to his position at Carnegie Mellon, he served as an Assistant Professor in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota. He also spent a year as a post-doctoral researcher at Microsoft Research in New York City, focusing on Machine Learning and Algorithmic Economics.
