Dr. Steven Young

Biography

Steven B. Young is a Professor and industrial ecologist at the University of Waterloo, affiliated with the School of Environment and Enterprise Development. He specializes in sustainable development, where he teaches courses integrating environment and business. His research focuses on corporate social responsibility, life-cycle assessment, responsible sourcing, sustainability standards, and management systems. His insightful work also encompasses auditing, assurance certification, and the study of sustainable materials alongside critical raw materials. Young holds two engineering degrees in Metallurgy and Materials Science from the University of Toronto and the University of Alberta. He actively participates in industry civil activities concerning responsible sourcing and shares his findings through both scholarly articles and popular industry outlets, contributing significantly to the field of industrial ecology.
