Biography

Stig Bo Andersen is a PhD student at the Saxo Institute, affiliated with the Copenhagen Centre for Health Research in Humanities (CoRe). His PhD project addresses the immediate clash between pollen allergy and biodiversity initiatives in Copenhagen, utilizing ethnographic methods to explore how Copenhageners experience pollen allergies and how biodiversity practices relate to allergy-friendly urban planning. Earlier in his career, he served as a research assistant at CoRe, focusing on a sub-project that studied the interaction of older citizens with public digitalization under Denmark's national digitalization strategy introduced in 2022. His current research, titled 'Pollen Allergy Greener City,' investigates how allergic experiences are intensified due to climate change and how these changes reconfigure the relationship between residents and nature in Copenhagen. The project examines human-pollen relations, exploring the implications for urban biodiversity initiatives alongside allergy management practices. Through two main trajectories, it aims to contribute an ethnological perspective to the interplay of health and environmental issues related to pollen allergy in urban settings, linking medical and environmental humanities.
